It was exciting to hear earlier this year of Puma‘s announcement that it had brought on Rihanna as its creative director. Ms. Fenty is a big deal in Snobette world and she makes a great fit with Puma’s reputation as a global active lifestyle brand with an eye on style. Puma of course also has a performance side to and this past weekend we experienced it as part of its sponsorship of the Wings for Life World Run, a global race held simultaneously in 35 cities worldwide with a goal of awareness around spinal cord injuries.
We were part of the very stylish Puma crew (shown above) running in Sunrise, Florida with a start time of 7:00AM as coordinated with times zones across the globe. The race included a diverse range of participants, including individuals in wheelchairs impacted by spinal cord injuries with each person running a distance reflective of their ability and speed. The race included a “catcher car,” with the person’s official run ending once passed by the car. In addition to those participating to support the cause, there were also world class runners with the global male winner, Laemawork Ketema, running a total of 79.9 kilometers before encountering the catcher car. This is just year two for the race and the plan is for it to grow even bigger next year with Puma also growing it participation.
