While going about her business, actress Rose McGowan was interviewed by TMZ about Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks appearance on the Country Music Award show and the subsequent decision by the organization to remove any reference to their ensemble performance. McGowan said the Dixie Chicks “were done wrong by their fans and I hope they reclaim their throne because they’re amazing, strong women, and Beyoncé is a fierce power, warrior goddess.”
When told that the Country Music Award organizers had erased any social media coverage of their performance, McGowan said, “Those people need to fall off the planet,” adding, “Bye deplorables, see ya.” When told they were likely reacting to push back from fans unhappy with Beyoncé’s association with Black Lives Matter, McGowan said, “They need to suck it because black lives do matter.”
She went on to describe the people behind the Country Music Award event as “a bunch of chickenshits and they need to stand up to a bunch of rednecks.” When the reporter suggested the organization should have scrubbed the comments rather than the performance, McGowan agreed, “Obviously, you don’t punish women, you punish perpetrators.”
While initially denying it had tried to erase Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks from coverage, over the past 24 hours, it has begun to show images on its sites. On its Instagram page, the organization reposted a Beyoncé image used in conjunction with the release of “Daddy Lessons” on Soundcloud. The post has been filled with bee emojis via angry members of the Beyhive.
