Preparing for the release of the Stella Meghie-directed film Everything, Everything, actress Amandla Stenberg yesterday (May 12, 2017) released a self-directed video for her cover of “Oh Let My Baby Stay,” a song by Canadian singer/songwriter Mac DeMarco.
In the video, Stenberg sings and dances and while she couldn’t be more beguiling, the people in the video take no notice of her because just like real life they all have their faces buried in their phones.
According to Stenberg’s Instagram account, the song will be included in the movie and its accompanying soundtrack. “I sneaky snuck one of my favorite songs, Let My Baby Stay by @macdemarco into a scene in Everything, Everything coming out next week. Thank you to stand up man & pepperoni playboy Mac for blessing our movie with this song,” wrote Stenberg, whose buzz cut was done for her role as Maddy in the film, which opens May 19th.
