Toronto rapper Drake made it rain in Miami in the video for “God’s Plan,” a six-minute visual showing the Toronto rapper handing out a million of dollars to individuals and organizations, random acts of kindness that have been reported on over the past few weeks.
Directed by Karena Evans, the video kicks off with the statement, “The budget for the video was $996,631.90. We gave it all away. Don’t tell the label.” The day before its release, Drake wrote on Instagram, “The most important thing I have ever done in my career…drop a 🙏🏽 if I can share it with you.”
Drake makes his first stop was at a grocery store where he tells customers, “Anything you guys want in the store is free.” Later at the University of Miami, he surprises student Destiny James with a $50,000 check to cover tuition.
Additionally, he takes out three women for a shopping spree at Saks 5th Avenue, surprises several families with stacks of cash and also writes big checks for two charities, Overtown Youth Center and Lotus House. He also surprises some people with brand new cars.
The single dropped on January 19th and has been No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks straight.
