Nike is joining forces again with Dutch artist Piet Parra who worked off of two silhouettes: Air Max 1, and Zoom Spiridon and a nylon tracksuit, all of which work off of a color scheme mixing white, turquoise, red and black.
If that doesn’t sound all that flashy, all three versions of the mesh and leather shoes are boldly adorned with a mix of horizontal stripes and polka dots. Among the two Air Max 1 silhouettes, one is Swooshless and features a cloud pattern.
Known for his striking use of primary colors, Parra’s last collaboration with Nike was in 2009. In discussing the challenges of his latest effort, Parra explained, “There are two people who sit on your shoulder and watch what you’re doing all the time. One says, ‘The collector is going to like this,’ and then the opposite, which queries: ‘How does somebody who is 17 or 18 years old, with no idea about what I did before, how are they going to look at this?'”
Priced at $150, the Nike and Parra Air Max 1 will drop on July 21st at top-tier Nike accounts on July 21, 2018. The shoe featuring the cloud pattern is friends and family, meaning it won’t be released at retail.
