TMZ ran into Congressman Beto O’Rourke on Capital Hill in Washington D.C. where he was quizzed about Beyoncé’s show of support the day of the U.S. midterm elections on November 5, 2018.
The Houston-born Beyoncé encouraged her Instagram followers to vote and threw her silent support behind O’Rourke’s Senate run with a baseball cap bearing his name. Following his defeat, Beyoncé was criticized by some for waiting too long to give him a nod.
When asked, O’Rourke expressed appreciation for her co-sign and dismissed criticism of its timing. “On Beyoncé, She’s one of the great artists of our time. One of the best people to come out of Houston and Texas. I was grateful she supported us. Whenever it came, it was great. It was great.” said O’Rourke.
Check out the interview below, along with O’Rourke’s thoughts on running for president.
