Louis Vuitton and Virgil Abloh continue their global roll out of pop-up stores with news of a temporary shop opening up in Manhattan. Housed in Chrome Hearts store, the location will feature select items from the spring 2019 Wizard of Oz-themed collection, which marks Abloh’s first effort with the label.
In addition to the shop, Louis Vuitton and Abloh have installed a multi-story psychedelic window installation at the label’s Fifth Avenue store. Standing 12 stories high, the artwork shows a multi-colored model inside a display box.
According to press, “A yellow brick road, a field of red poppies, an emerald green forest, the colorful World of Oz that inspired the Men’s Spring-Summer 2019 Collection has been brought to life in a short-lived residency housed in the Chrome Hearts’ West Village store. Presented this past summer on a rainbow runway at the Palais Royal in Paris, the collection was Virgil Abloh’s first as Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director. For one week only, visitors are invited to discover the new ready-to-wear, accessories, and leather goods through a distinctly prismatic lens.”
The pop-up store is located at 42 Bethune Street and will be open from 11:00 AM-7:00 PM, January 10-17, 2019. While the priority reservation are now closed, walk-in visitors are welcome.
