Netflix has previewed a clip from Kanye West‘s upcoming interview with David Letterman as part of his second season of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” interview series. In the latest clip, West speaks about his mother, Donda West, who passed away in November 2007 at 58.
In the clip, West, states, “This would have been the funnest time of her life, to have those kids running around that house and being able to go and buy them toys.”
West went on to tell a story about her mother giving him a multi-colored bear she thought reminded him of one made by Takashi Murakami, an artist West was deeply into at the time.
The clip ends with West stating, “But you know, she’s here with us and she’s guiding us.”
During the exchange, the camera pans to Kim Kardashian, who smiles during the exchange that no doubt brought to mind the loss of her own father, who died in 2003 at age 59.
According to the Daily Beast, Letterman and West also discuss his battles with bi-polar disorder, his support of Donald Trump and members of the MAGA movement, who he views a bullied by liberals. Without naming him, West also references Drake as an artist he had a beef with. He explains, “An artist which I will not mention, because I’m not allowed to mention him or any of his family members…”
The series begins streaming May 31st on Netflix and will kick off with the West interview. Season two also includes interviews with Ellen Degeneres, Tiffany Haddish, Lewis Hamilton and Melinda Gates.
