In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Pete) communicated on Christmas Day with her followers (known as the Hotties), who’ve been concerned about her spending her first Christmas without her grandmother and mother, both of whom passed away within weeks of each other earlier this year.
In the caption of the post she wrote, “I see a lot of my hotties checking on me In my dm’s asking how I am and just showing me a lot of love and it really made me get emotional. I’m definitely still in a bad place when it comes to the topic of my mother and great grandmother but they raised me to be strong so I’m going to continue to be strong and make them proud of me. I know that pain is temporary and I’m going to continue to get better and grow into the woman my mother knew I could be ! Just remember to try to always be kind to people , check on them , uplift your loved ones because you never know what people are going through internally.”
Normally the picture of happiness, the subdued rapper added in a video, “This is like my 500th time making this video without getting super emotional. This year, I lost my mom and my grandmother in the same month, and although all these positive things have been happening to me, and I’ve been trying to do good, I’ve been trying to keep a smile on my face. You know, trying to stay strong, trying to stay happy for me and my other grandmother and the rest of my family, it’s pretty rough, it’s pretty hard.
“This is the first Christmas that I’m ever going to spend without them and I just wanted to give some hope to my hotties who might be going through something, too. I just wanted to spread some positivity to y’all. Stay positive. Stay kind through your hard times because the pain doesn’t last forever. Just try not to get in a dark place, just always try and be kind to others because you never know what they’re going through.”
