Houston hottie Megan thee Stallion has landed her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single with “Savage,” a single featuring fellow Houstonite Beyoncé [Knowles-Carter]. The song marks Beyoncé’s seventh No. 1 single.
The song was released on March 6, 2020 as part of Megan’s EP “Suga” and first gained momentum as a popular TikTok dance track. The addition of a Beyoncé feature added enough fuel to propel the single to a No. 2 position on the May 16, 2020 chart and the following week it dropped to the No. 5 spot.
Responding to the moment on Instagram, Megan (real name Megan Pete) wrote, “HOTTIES WE ARE NUMBER 1 ON THE HOT 100 FOR THEE FIRST TIME EVERRRR🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 WE FUCKING DID IT 😭😭😭😭 thank you GOD🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 this is our first but it damn sure won’t be our last ! I love y’all so much 💙💙💙 HOUSTON WE GOT ONE 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽#SAVAGE 🐎🐝”
While Beyoncé didn’t promote the song on her own social feeds prior to the song landing at No. 1, she did send Megan a bouquet of flowers with a note that read, “Congrats on your number one Queen. Love B.”
