Nike has revealed a new women’s version of its Dunk Low silhouette called the the Dunk Low Disrupt. As with prior Nike silhouettes redesigned to better reflect women’s feet, the Dunk Low Disrupt is anchored by a slimmer footbed and a lighter weight shoe.
Commenting on the effort, Nike press reads, “While there’s been a history of women’s-specific Dunks, including the Dunk Sky Hi and Sacai Dunk Lux, the Dunk Low Disrupt builds off of a premise of non-conformed distortion. The exaggerated tooling takes inspiration from Nike’s mid-’80s basketball catalog. Of course, there are elements from the Dunk, and also cues pulled from an obscure precursor, the 1984 Nike Air Train.”
In addition to the shoe’s mesh and leather upper, it’s marked by a distinct heal-to-lace leather overlay. Reflecting a stripped down, industrial look popularized by Virgil Abloh, the shoe tongue is unfinished.
The inaugural drop for the Dunk Low Disrupt will be offered in white highlighted by four white leather overlay colors: black, red, game royal (style code: CK6654-100) and photon dust (style code: CK6654-001).
Priced at $110, the Nike Dunk Low Disrupt will drop on SNKRS on September 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM EST.
