North West has been lighting up Paris where she and her mother, Kim Kardashian, are visiting for Paris Fashion Week. Heads turned when West was spotted in a varsity jacket by Pastelle, a brand founded by Ye, her father. West paired the look with a Balenciaga bag and Balenciaga and Crocs clogs. Though the brand never officially launched, West’s jacket stands out because it was worn by Ye during the 2008 American Music Awards where he accepted two awards.
West and Kardashian were styled by Dani Levi, who sourced the jacket from vintage consignment owner Justin Reed. Now marked as sold, the silhouettes was listed on his store in May with a price tag of $10,000. It’s not known what number of the varsity jackets were made and whether the jacket worn by West was the same one worn by her father.
Pastelle turned from a concept into a reality sometime in 2007. And while the brand boasted three studios and multiple samples of the brand were produced and pieces were featured in a fashion editorial, it was never officially launched. In 2009, HighSnobiety reported the band was cancelled and would never hit retail. Sources told the pub Ye “would release a collection under his own name in the near future.”
