Paris luxury label Chanel has announced plans to add two new ready-to-wear capsules, Coco Beach, a swimwear line and Coco Neige for ski resort goers.
According to WWD, the Coco Beach line includes swimsuits, bikinis, bandannas, terry cloth beach cover-ups, denim pieces, bags and espadrilles. Swimwear in some cases will feature an oversized double-c satin appliqué, as well as a hand-painted version of the brand’s lattice motif. The Coco Beach line will be carried at 26 stores, beginning in June.
The Coco Neige collection will be available in a wider numbers of stores in July and August, arriving at the same time as fall offerings. Items include a tweed-trimmed down jacket, nylon ski pants plus shearling boots and bags. Pieces will be detailed with a Coco Neige logo, placed either on the sleeve or the hood.
The two new collection were designed by Karl Lagerfeld, who currently oversees the label’s two couture shows, as well as its cruise collection, the Métiers d’Art line, and the pre-collections carried by stores.
“Karl has worked on every piece, he has seen everything. He is very involved and he always wants it to work. That’s what’s important. This is not a second-tier collection. The energy that has been put behind it is the same,” said Bruno Pavlovsky, Chanel’s president of fashion.
Chanel has included swimwear in its resort collections in the past. Check out three swimsuits from the resort 2012 collection below to get a feel for what’s to come.
