The current iteration of the furry fob trend started with Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2010 presentation when designer Marc Jacobs embellished already flashy bags with the addition of fur fox-shaped tails. As bags became more streamlined and minimal, designers backed off in-your-face elements and went back to classic roots. Enter Fendi vis-a-vis Karl Lagerfeld, who put the trend back in high gear when he showed “Monster” fobs on the label’s Autumn 2013 runway. And now that the bag category is suffering from an excessive return to classic whereby every label’s offerings are dominated by squarish-shaped, all-leather bags, designers and customers are seeking to add whimsy to bags through a Variety of fur clip on fobs that add personality to and humor to whatever bag they’re attached to.
