Inspired by her love of New York City in all its gritty realness, photographer Amy Collado curated a show titled “Born Too Late” last week. The show was themed around imagery that paid tribute to her neighborhood crew, known as ‘The Brooklyn Four.” The event took place at East Village’s community space Specials, formerly a bodega left vacant after hurricane Sandy. On the collection, Collado stated:
“This is my story, your story. Each of us holds a piece to the bigger picture and we often forget that the bigger picture goes beyond the person you see when you look in the mirror. Sometimes you have to look back to truly appreciate the world around you now.”
Also featured at the installation was work by artist Brian Khiragis and Botanica New York.
