Athlete and honor student Mo’Ne Davis’ this past summer became the first girl to earn a win and pitch a shut out in the Little League World Series. In a short called “Throw Like A Girl,” Spike Lee examines her story growing up in South Philadelphia and the path to her becoming a baseball player. It’s a compelling look at the young athlete and shows that Davis is blessed with both natural talent and just as importantly supportive coaches and family, who encouraged her to play ball. It’s also fun to see Spike do his thing, interviewing subjects with his trademark rapid fire questions mixed with playful pokes that put his subjects at ease.
