J.W. Anderson presentation for pre-autumn 2015 was released earlier this week and the response in the fashion community more or less has been heart palpitations. Like any presentation that resonates, this one exudes a forward energy, honoring the current minimalist movement while at the same time opening a door to mischievous new ideas that speak to a more open and deeper approach.
The label’s Northern Ireland-born and London-based designer, Jonathan Anderson, is hardly new on the scene. Alexa Chung is a big fan and LVMH invested in the label last year and also tapped Anderson to head its Loewe bag label. Before that, he had a very well received collaboration with TopShop. Still, this collection one that appears to have the potential to put him on the global map in a much bigger way.
On a side note the model is London up and comer Damaris Goddrie. According to Vogue, Goddrie, who was spotted at a fitting, is credited with making the collection gel, and is described in the article by Anderson as “a girl with the ideal attitude to inhabit these almost-but-not-exactly retro-styled clothes.”
