NikeLab has released a video (below) along with an extensive lookbook for its upcoming collaboration with Japanese brand Sacai and its head designer/founder, Chitose Abe. The collection as modeled by Binx Walton includes eight pieces of apparel that are inspired by items from Nike’s lifestyle archive and include a Tech Fleece crew, hooded sweatshirt, pant and dress, plus a Windrunner jacket, pleated sport skirt and graphic tee. The capsule also includes a new interpretation of the Air Max silhouette that has been redesigned into an all leather slip-on style.
From a design perspective this is certainly Nike’s most ambitious lifestyle collection yet and reflects the brand’s willingness to create design pieces that are rooted in performance and technology but also make a bold fashion statement. The collection also reflects Nike’s focus on growing its business with the high-end customer and retailer, especially among women, a demographic with which Nike perceives itself as having a wide open runway.
This collection will launch on March 19th at NikeLab doors in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai and on Nike.com/NikeLab in North America, Western Europe, Japan, and China as well as select stores globally including Dover Street Market and Colette. The collection will launch on March 25th in Japan.
The summer collection, which will introduce new colorways and the addition of the Windrunner skirt, graphic Nike tank, and the NikeLab Dunk Lux, will go on sale in June.
