Marc Jacobs has announced the addition of Willow Smith as a face of the label’s upcoming media campaign. Smith will share the spotlight with Cher, who was announced last week. The announcements by the brand are the first news to arise in a while not related to internal restructuring, perhaps suggesting smoother sailing ahead after a period marked by change. Marc Jacobs stepped down from his role as head creative at Louis Vuitton in 2013, a move it was said he made in order to prepare his namesake label for an IPO. The fashion world was taken aback earlier this year when it was announced Marc by March Jacobs, the label’s secondary line would be closed down. Jacobs attributed the shuttering to changing consumer purchasing habits, whereby consumers of all incomes are now wearing and mixing labels from all price ranges, thus making the need for labels with distinct pricing obsolete.
