After a twelve year hiatus, Ice Cube’s beloved Barbershop franchise is back with a third installment, titled “The Next Cut.” The latest projects receives a boost of energy through new cast members Nicki Minaj, Common and Tyga, along with many members of the old time crew including Cedric the Entertainer and Eve.
According to press, “It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin (Ice Cube) and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed.”
The movie is also themed around the neighborhood, which has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and his staff to come together to save the community. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, The Next Cut hits theaters on April 15th.
