Italian label Diesel has launched a magazine with the first one themed the buzzy topic of gender. As cast by creative director Nicola Formichetti and shot by Christopher Makos, there are three covers featuring “Gia, Sara and Stav,” all of whom discuss “labels, turn ons, dating apps,” as well as the mindsets of the crews they run with. In commenting on gender, Sara, says, “Gender is very limiting to the progression of our species as a whole. I don’t feel like either. It’s totally irrelevant to me.”
And while talk about gender fluidity has almost become ho-hum in the fashion world, for most of the population, there is still a lot of push back around the concept, as well as strongly held beliefs that men and women should adhere to a rigid set of rules defining appropriate dress and behavior. As such, it’s good to see Diesel putting an effort behind a more open mindset.
