As has become his custom, Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci showed women’s Haute Couture looks during the aw16 menswear presentation in Paris yesterday. And though at first glance, the mostly black color palette of the gowns combined with the dark pink liner framing the female models’ eyes may have one in the mindset of interpreting the dresses as gothish, in reality, the looks showed a wide assortment of moods, ranging from a sheer black slip dress that did feel tres goth, but then a bright and shimmery gown with waist cutouts, offered in both chartreuse and white, topped by the pièce de ré·sis·tance, a power black suit a la Madonna’s “Vogue” topped by a deeply luxurious black fur coat. All very classic cuts, meticulously constructed with an eye on timeless appeal.
