Bronx-born Cardi B aka Belcalis Almanzar realizes a long held dream and releases her first mixtape (stream it below), titled “Gangsta Bitch Volume 1,” an effort that grew from her role on the reality TV series, “Love & Hip Hop New York.”
The mixtape is a thorough effort and includes 12 songs, as well as five skits that bring to the forefront the sassy/complex/wise persona responsible for creating her massive Instagram following. While a beginner to the game, Cardi B’s flow is on point and feels legit, all of which is backed up by her street credentials, enabling her to tell emotion-filled, authentic stories with “Foreva” as well as the clubby “I Gotta Hurt You” standing out as highlights. Being viewed as legit in the game because of her association with “Love and Hip Hop” will be a challenge, but we are here for it!
Cardi B appeared on “The Breakfast Club” yesterday to discuss her mixtape, “Love & Hip Hop,” the challenges of fame, her aspirations for herself and her family, and her advice to women who are considering stripping. Watch it below.
