The Phlemuns collection for spring 2016 is a cool amalgam of khaki, patchwork denim and jeweled toned pieces ranging from multi-pocketed utilitarian to sexy laced cropped tops. Based in Los Angeles with a formal background in product development, designer James Flemons is attracted to reconstructing garments, playing with proportion, fabrics as well as gender, taking a garment meant for one sex, making it masculine/feminine and then translating it back once again. Slightly off-kilter, artful and yet still utilitarian, it should come as no surprise that Solange Knowles is a fan.
