Filling Pieces appreciate a far-flung beautiful setting, and this time the team traveled to Iceland to photograph the label’s sneaker offerings for fall 2016. As hot by Lotte van Raalte, looks are modeled by Jo Molenaar and Omari Phipps.
The collection for fall is named “Srefidensi,” Dutch word for “independence,” a reference to Surinam, birth place of Filling Piece founder Guillaume Philibert. Located in South America, Surinam is now independent, winning its independence from the Netherlands in 1975, and the reference reflects the brand’s coming of age since it was first launched in 2009.
Confined by factory dictates on shoe construction, the brand has grown to a large enough size to gradually begin moving away from standard issue sneaker molds. This fall, for instance, the brand has begun to replace the standard luxury sneaker cup soles with custom Filling Pieces soles made from high quality vulcanized rubber. With the fall drop, the brand will introduce two of the new custom soles, named “Thick Ripple” and “Astro.”
We’d like to point that fall offerings for 2016 include two styles sized for women; both the women’s shoes are low top styles featuring artful graphics.
