Miu Miu has released “That One Day,” the 12th installment of the Italian’s labels “Women’s Tales” film series. Directed by Crystal Moselle and filmed in New York, the short is a story of friendship and solidarity as experienced by a group of female skateboarders.
In the film, teen skater Rachelle Martinez overcomes the intimidation of the often macho skate scene when she meets and bonds with a crew of female skaters. Channeling the diversity of style and femininity, the film beautifully embraces the transformation of girls to women. Speaking on the film’s participants, Moselle commented, “I am in love with the transformation stage in a girl’s life, when they are not quite a girl but not quite a woman.”
