Amsterdam sneaker brand Filling Pieces has created a tradition of shooting its lookbooks in remote geographies around the world, and for spring 2017, the team traveled to the island of Madagascar off the southeast coast of Agrica. Shot by Lotte Van Raalte, the images bring to the forefront the collection’s earthy color palette.
The title of the collection references the brand’s wish to step out of the bounds of established sneaker-making manufacturing rules. According to press:
“Our spring/summer 2017 collection is entitled “Let Us Create” in reference to the creative freedoms afforded to us by replacing the industry standard generic cupsoles with our own custom designs. The SS17 is the first collection to feature [Filling Pieces] sole units exclusively. Alongside the durable rubber we used last season, we also experimented with some new materials. Designed in Amsterdam and produced in our R&D lab in Portugal, we created five new soles for SS17.”
