Calvin Klein has revealed its first collection under the direction of well-regarded, Belgian designer Raf Simons, who was announced in August 2016 as the brand’s creative director. A bespoke line referred to as Calvin Klein by Appointment, the announcement was a quiet one, made on a Sunday (January 22) through the brand’s site and social media accounts.
The collection is described on the site as “handcrafted and made to measure in NYC,” and also reads, “No longer solely for celebrities, rather an open made-to-measure service. A tribute to the Calvin Klein atelier: A full range of handcrafting skills from embroidery to tailoring. Raf Simons, Chief Creative Officer Calvin Klein says: “Calvin Klein is not only about iconic underwear and jeans, it’s about so much more.”
Modeled by Millie Bobby Brown, Abbey Lee, Julia Nobis, and Samantha Eldridge, the 14 looks included in the first collection of offerings are feminine and lean to the formal side of the dress code. And while yes, the look is rooted in Calvin Klein’s famous minimalist aesthetic, it appears a bit of Dior’s flare for the dramatic rubbed off on Simons during his tenure with the French luxury label.
Calvin Klein by Appointment will be available for fittings at 205 West 39th Street in New York, beginning on April 1, 2017.
