Italian luxury label Gucci has revealed what looks like the groundwork for a fall 2017 campaign, kicked off on its Instagram account with screen test videos of models who auditioned for a role in the ad in London. From what has been shown, the cast for the campaign will be all black, which would be a first for the label.
Wearing their own clothes, participants were asked to name their spirit animals and some were also asked to define the meaning of soul. All of the models were asked to dance at the end of the interview. Given the prevalent stereotype that all black people are genetically gifted with the ability to dance, this is somewhat problematic, but whatever. Baby steps, Gucci, baby steps.
