Kenzo had a lot of success last season with the Spike Jonze-directed “Kenzo World,” a campaign video that received the prestigious Epica “Grand Prix” award for advertising within the luxury category.
The Parisian brand returns with a spring campaign titled “Club Ark Eternal,” a short film directed by Partel Oliva with original music by Lafawndah and movement direction by Ryan Heffington.
The video in part is meant to celebrate the role of the club and the dance movement that is important part of club culture as a safe space for expression. Given the move to more conservative governments worldwide, the timing of the video couldn’t be more pertinent.
According to press, “The video pays homage to nightlife as a powerful source of alternative energies against racism, sexual oppression and class violence. Clubs as exemplars of progressive communities, crucibles of self-invention.
“Club Ark Eternal” is a tribute to club culture at a time of tragedy. With clubbing spaces obviously needing to be understood and protected. With many countries around the world entering a winter of the soul, they wanted to celebrate the kids who go out in 15°F/-2°C.”
