Throughout its history, Edun has its fair share of tumult, just last year in May losing its head designer, Danielle Sherman. Through the ups and down (which included thumb’s up financial backing from LVMH in 2009), the collectively-designed New York-based brand always manages to deliver beautifully cool collections that seamlessly blend the edge of New York style with the deeply cool flair of the various African organizations it partners with.
Offerings for fall include looks suitable for work or evenings out and while nothing here could be deemed casual (a la yoga pants), it’s all very laid back.
For its fall 2016 collection, clothing was made in collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative in Burkina Faso and South African designer Carole Nevin. According to Vogue, this season, Edun also initiated new partnerships with a Kenyan weaving co-op and Senegal-based Johanna Bramble Créations.
