Gucci has revealed an eyewear campaign video made in collaboration with Petra Collins, a Toronto fashion photographer who has become known for her dreamy images of women, an aesthetic that lines up nicely with that of the label’s head designer Alessandro Michele.
For the campaign, Collins tapped into her mother’s Hungarian background to create a video whose country home interior and outdoor backdrops provide the basis for a magical take on her homeland. Shot in Budapest, the theme of familial connection is further driven home through the video’s cast, which includes two of Collins young cousins.
“Collins creates a world where everything is not quite as it seems, and what begins as a window into rural family life soon gives way to a fantastical dream,” according to Gucci press. “Escaping from the sleepy surroundings of her grandmother’s living room, her two young cousins are transported on a surreal voyage, wondering through the oneiric countryside before stepping into the ornate surroundings of a traditional thermal bath-house, which hosts the final scenes of this journey.”
All the featured actor wear eyewear from Gucci’s spring 2017 collection, including the eye-popping “Hollywood Forever” sunglasses that are detailed with crystal clusters.
