Rumors of a collaboration between Coach and Rodarte have been confirmed, and it’s going to be a lot more than just bags. Including 40 pieces, designs will include dresses, leather jackets, sweaters, as well as leather accessories.
The look of the collection marries Coach’s reputation for quality leather items with Rodarte’s love of extravagant detail, a combination epitomized by bags full to the brim with floral appliqués, as well as a leather jacket with delicate cut outs on the body and a sleeve full of appliqué. And granted, it’s not like Coach doesn’t already appreciate bags decorated with appliqué flowers, it’s just that the Rodarte pieces take its embellishment game to a whole new level of enchanting
The connection was made through Coach head designer Stuart Vever, who has long been a fan of Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy. British-born Vevers also like the idea of working with U.S. designers. ” As someone still relatively new to the world of American fashion, I wanted to collaborate with an American designer to expand my point of view,” said Vevers in an interview with Refinery29. “I think Kate and Laura have a very unique approach to fashion that nevertheless embodies the American creative spirit.”
Priced from $295-$1,900, the collection will go live on coach.com on April 12th and will arrive in stores on April 14th.
