Coveted clothing and sneaker resell site Grailed is seeing enough prosperity around its three-year old concept that it’s preparing to launch a site for women. Set for a summer launch, the site will be entirely separate from Grailed with its own url and social media addresses.
And while Grailed is rooted in much-hyped streetwear with Supreme leading the charge, the new site will be managed by Kristen Dempsey, who comes from Dover Street Market, a global department store known for its cutting edge mix of high fashion, streetwear and athletic brands.
Dempsey believes the female customer is not only ready but has been waiting for a woman’s site. “The sentiment across the board was, ‘Hey, what about us?'” she said in an interview with Complex magazine.
Brands she mentioned as likely to form the foundation of Grailed’s women’s site exude an advant garde edge and include Céline, Visvim, Comme des Garçons, Simone Rocha, Maryam Nassir Zadeth, Rick Owens, Chanel, Maison Martin Margiela, Reformation, Vans, Madewell, Birkenstock, among others.
