Issa Rae took to social media to provide some info on season two of HBO’s break out hit, “Insecure,” but in the end, the only thing Rae would reveal was a premiere date of July 23, 2017. She did float some of the questions she’s been hearing from fans, though stayed mum on the answers.
We are going to take our best shot at what we think the answers to those questions are. If you don’t want ANY hints about what’s to come, then stop reading now because some of our guesses include information Rae has provided in prior interviews.
1. Is Issa still single? Of course she is. Rae spoke to EW in November 2016 and described the duo as broken up. “I think this next season will see [Issa] start to ask more introspective questions,” explained Rae. “I think the break up will hit both Lawrence and Issa pretty hard and I think break-ups are rarely ever clean, especially for couples who lived together. So we know that Lawrence won’t be completely out of her life forever.”
2. Is Molly still single? Definitely. Rae has talked about the importance of Issa and Molly’s friendship and given they ended the season bonding on a couch, it’s easy to conclude a lot of season two will show them tackling life together as singles. And again, Rae provided clues in the same EW interview. “We’re also really excited to develop what Issa and Molly possibly being single together looks like,” said Rae.
3. Is Lawrence still fine? Rae does answer that question and says he is, but she’s also letting us know he will play a big part of next season, and our guess is he will be in and out of Issa’s life as they attempt to figure out where they stand. Will they ever get back together? Hmmm, we guess their best days are behind them and while they may try to make it work, it’s probably a wrap.
Francheska “Fran” Medina and Crissles who do an “Insecurites” podcast dedicated to the show have drawn different conclusions about them getting back together, which you can check out below.
Rae didn’t mention Tasha the bank teller aka Dominique Perry, but we are super excited to see via her Instagram account she will be back for season two. We LIKE her!
