Truly wealthy rappers have a chance to separate themselves from hoi polloi claims about owning a Rolls Royce Wraith, by bidding on the rare Pink Star diamond, said to be the largest in existence within the “fancy vivid pink” color grade. According to Sotheby’s, the ring is 59.60 carats and was rare enough to be on display in 2003 at the Smithsonian National Museum’s “The Splendor of Diamonds,” exhibit, as one of seven of the world’s rarest and most extraordinary diamonds.
The diamond was presented by Sotheby’s London branch ahead of its auction in Hong Kong on April 4, 2017, where it is estimated the diamond will bring $60 million. The diamond was auctioned and purchased in November 2013 by diamond cutter Isaac Wolf, who couldn’t cough up the $83 million dollar price tag, which goes to show, it’s not just rap artists whose bling brags don’t measure up to reality.
