Props to U.K. magazine Evening Standard, which not only shot an appropriately haute editorial (styled by Jenny Kennedy and shot by Ed Singleton) showing Paris Hilton looking the best she has in an editorial in ages, but also for providing an interview, conducted by Charlotte Edwardes, that perfectly captured all the accouterments that are part of an interview with Hilton.
Here are some of the highlights of the exchange, conducted at Hilton’s Hollywood Hills mansion:
Entering into Hilton’s home: “A housekeeper opens the front door. Seven small dogs skid about on marble in a frenzy of barking. Hot young staff buzz around on iPhones. I’m placed in The Gold Room (candles, orchids, a million photos of Hilton, including Hilton as a baby being held by Nancy Reagan), and then moved to The Blue Room (ditto, with a Hilton-hugging-Michael Jackson photo) and promised ‘she won’t be long.’ And then she descends from a staircase lined with her magazine covers. Her mood is, how shall I put it? Floaty? Detached?”
Why she never needed to have work done: “Stay out of the sun your whole life; my mom gave me that advice when I was 12. I’m natural. I’ve never had any plastic surgery, never done filler, never done Botox. Nothing.”
On whether she voted for Trump: “I never said that I voted for him. I was asked if I liked him. I’ve known him since I was a little girl. But I never said I would vote for him.”
On being bored with questions about Kim Kardashian: “I ask about Kim: are they still in touch? ‘Yeah,’ she drawls, non-committal. ‘Actually we were texting a few weeks ago.’ I ask how she feels about making Kim famous, but her PR guillotines the question, ‘can we stay off that subject?’ ‘I love Kim,’ Hilton continues. ‘Basically we’ve been friends since we were born.'”
Her new guy: “Hilton and [Chris] Zylka have not left each other’s sides since their first date three months ago, she says.”
The names of her eight dogs: “We talk dog names. Hilton’s brood of Pomeranians and Chihuahuas are, How’s Your Girl, Diamond Baby, Peter Pan, London, Prince Baby Bear, Princess, Paris Jnr and Prince Hilton.”
She loves London: “It’s the one place that I wish I could live in. I will one day. I’m obsessed with the accents and the people and the food and just everything about London. It’s my favorite city in the world.”
