Katy Perry has dropped “Swish Swish,” a bouncy club number featuring Nicki Minaj that’s the third single from Perry’s upcoming album, Witness. While the song may sound like a fun club track, both Perry and Minaj take shots at their enemies. However, while the single art shows receipts implying Perry and Minaj are going to drop them, their take downs are generic enough that they could be applied to any number of people.
In Perry’s case she is said to be clapping back at Taylor Swift‘s attacks on Perry in “Bad Blood.” Minaj on the other hand appears to be directing most of her ire at Remy Ma, in particular with the line, “Silly rap beefs just get me more checks.”
Minaj’s line in which she says, “Don’t be tryna double back, I already despise you” is a bit more of a mystery. While Ma has said she views the beef as over, she hasn’t being showing Minaj any love, even the fake variety. Genius thinks it’s a shot at Meek Mill, who, as th site points out, was spotted on Instagram, singing along to Drake’s “Fake Love” not long after he and Minaj split. And given the male tendency to circle back, that sounds very plausible.
In addition to the clap backs, Minaj also shouts out Brooklyn rapper Notorious B.I.G. with a set of verses that reference his 1994 single “Juicy.”
