A$AP Rocky and A$AP Ferg have dropped the visuals for “Wrong,” a single first released in April 2017. Filmed in a church, Rocky and Ferg wear white and red while the supporting cast of women are all dressed in white.
The song’s lyrics are a confessional, with the two acknowledging they haven’t been the best in terms of their treatment of women. To drive home the point, Rocky wears the much-celebrated Dior t-shirt featuring the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie quote, “We should all be feminists.”
Atypical of most rap videos, the women are fully clothed and appear downcast and defeated, implying they’re sorting through pain caused by Rocky and Ferg.
While the first step to solving a problem is acknowledging it exists, it’s hard not to roll one’s eyes at this video, especially coming from this crew. There are wonderful things about A$AP Mob, but its track record in terms of women is decidedly mixed.
A$AP Mob have a “Cozy Tapes, Volume 2” mixtape coming sometime soon, but no date has been set.
