Much-loved r&b singer Aaliyah’s third and final eponymous album was released on July 7, 2001. To commemorate the date, designer Sheila Rashid has announced plans for a capsule collection of Aaliyah t-shirts to be released on July 7, 2017.
Rashid has am ongoing connections with music and made a big splash at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards when Chance the Rapper rocked a pair of her overalls. Based in Chicago, Rashid is a self taught designer whose city roots are meaningful to her process. “I want to be here. I want to make my stamp here. People should pay attention,” she said in an interview with Vogue.
With creatives hubs like RSVP Gallery, along with Virgil Abloh and Kanye West hailing from Chi-Town, Rashid is definitely on to something.
