Following the release of the long-awaited album CTRL, TDE’s First Lady SZA has released the video for “Drew Barrymore.” The visuals for the song were directed by Dave Myers who also directed SZA labelmate Kendrick Lamar’s song “Humble” from his album Damn. And yes, the actual Drew Barrymore makes a quick cameo in the video at 02:17.
The video opens in a high-rise New York apartment with SZA and her crew sprawled on the floor in post-party mode. They end up wandering the City, stopping in on a rooftop, a pizza spot and playing in a snow-filled park. Riffing on the famed New York-centric film Kids, Shannon Stokes who styled the video described the aesthetic as a “crew of obnoxious rich kids.”
In a notable fashion moment, the singer sports the very cool vintage Fendi set that showed up on her Instagram feed earlier this year.
