Under the ownership of Canada-based Gildan since November 2016, American Apparel has reopened its online store. The shop resembles the old shop in many ways though as seen through a more corporate, less trend-oriented lens.
Case in point, there’s a disco section that includes spandex leggings, but the colors are limited to grey and black (though in fairness gold and silver are coming soon).
Once manufactured entirely in Los Angeles, the vast majority of the line is now manufactured in South America and Asia, however, the site includes a “made in USA” section though it only includes eight style.
Pricing is fairly affordable with crop tops priced at $14, leggings are $28-$38 and hoodies are $38.
It goes without saying the soft porn images that were a mark of American Apparel under Dov Charney rule are looong gone.
