Much-admired designer Rick Owens has let it be known his collaborative relationship with Adidas has come to an amicable end.
Grailed reach out to Owens for a comment and received an email response, stating, “Fall 2017 will be the last season of the co-branding between adidas and Rick Owens. Both partners enjoyed great success over the past four years and as this collaboration comes to a natural conclusion, they continue to hold each other in the highest regard.”
First revealed in June 2013, Adidas initially approached Owens to collaborate for one collection with the goal of making stylish running shoes for Owens and fans of his brand. The collaboration was extended and over the course of four years, the two labels created amazing, avant garde designs.
As one door closes another opens and Owens has plans to work collaboratively with American rubber company Hood Rubber for the next year. Their first collection already was shown on Owens’ spring 2018 runway.
