Nike has announced plans for its first skateboard shoe designed for a woman’s foot, an effort inspired in part by Nike-sponsored skateboarder Lacey Baker.
The shoe is a Nike SB Bruin High, which has a more female-friendly last, including a sculpted fit, a shallower forefoot and a more tapered heel than the typical men’s skate last.
“I used to look up how to modify my shoes online so I could make them fit better,” said Lacey Baker in a press release. “I would put frozen plastic bags inside my shoes or spray them with water to stretch them out and make them feel like they were better molded to my feet.”
The women’s Nike SB Bruin High is available October 5, 2017 on the Nike app, nike.com and at select retailers.
