Princess Nokia has dropped an eight-minute double-feature visual featuring “Bart Simpson” and “Green Line,” both singles from her 1992 album. There’s also a short interlude between the two videos.
Directed by Milah Liban, the visual provides some insight into the foundation of her young life, revealing a young woman raised as much by the city of New York as any adult.
As an independent artist, Nokia first dropped 1992 in September of 2016. She signed with Rough Trade in June 2017 and followed with a deluxe version of the album on its one-year anniversary. The album was remastered (and in the case of Bart Simpson remixed because of sampling issues) and also added to all the major streaming formats, making her music much more widely accessible to her fans.
Nokia has toured extensively this year in Europe and the United States, and will appear at Villain in Brooklyn on September 29, 2017. Visit Nokia’s Facebook page for more details on additional tour dates.
In addition to the visual, Nokia also announced a GoFundMe effort to raise funds for Puerto Rico, which has been devastated by Hurricane Maria. More info on that effort here.
