Versace‘s runway presentation in Milan today (September 22, 2017) was in part a celebration of Donatella Versace’s brother, Gianni Versacce, who died 20 years ago on July 15, 1997.
As part of the tribute, the show closed with super models Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni and Helena Christensen, who walked out to the song “Freedom” by George Michael. The memorable visual for “Freedom” also included Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford along with Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz and Christy Turlington.
In late August, there was talk Virgil Abloh would take over Versace’s head creative position. The rumor was immediately dismissed by both the label and Abloh. Before Abloh, it was said Riccardo Tisci would join the label, but now it appears the deal with him has fallen through.
