Paris-based label Y/Project as led by Glenn Martens continued to delight fashion lovers with a spring 2018 collection that took classic silhouettes like track suits, blazers and rugby shirts to new artful levels. As well, the collection included further interpretations of the over-the-knee, uber slouchy boots that have become a signature for the label plus a beautifully romantic sandal marked by a rose-dotted leg wrap.
Launched in 2010 by Moroccan designer Yohan Serfaty, the Paris-based label has been in a state of transformation since Martens took over the creative helm in 2013. “[At Y/Project,] we want to be an eclectic brand,” he told Business of Fashion in an interview conducted prior to the presentation. “You have your streetwear, couture, the more tailored pieces, the unisex items, et cetera. Through this diversity, I don’t want to focus on one type of customer. A lot of brands today are thinking about building an ‘army’ and that by wearing a piece of that designer it makes you a member of that ‘army’. With Y/Project we try to push individuality. I want my grandmother to wear it, as well as a club kid.”
With the recent addition of footwear to its assortment Y/Project’s plan is to continue to grow slowly by steadily. Current pieces are available at Farfetch, Barneys and Luisaviaroma.
