Paris luxury group LVMH reported its third-quarter sales yesterday (October 9, 2017), which were better than anticipated by analysts. Showing an overall 12-percent increase in sales, the company continued to fly high despite a cautious outlook provided by CEO Bernard Arnault when the company reported its results in July.
Within the accessories category, the company lauded Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Fendi and noted that labels Loro Piana, Céline and Loewe are “making good progress.” In prior quarters, the company has expressed concern about the progress of Marc Jacobs and in a pdf presentation, tepidly described the line as “pursuing evolution of product lines and restructuring.”
Perfumes and cosmetics led positives, with third-quarter sales growth up 17 percent, better than analyst expectation of a nine percent increase. Christian Dior received numerous positives mentions as did Guerlain and Givenchy. Launched in September 2017, Fenty Beauty was described by the company as experiencing “an exceptional start.”
