Depending on your background and year of birth, if you’re a heterosexual male there’s a good chance you worship at the alter of the Brian DiPalma-directed Scarface or Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather.
Scarface skews younger and is often beloved by rappers so not surprisingly Supreme has tapped into the movie’s cult status for a capsule. Items include a leather jacket, sweater, hockey jerseys, hoodies, beanies and skate decks. There’s also a “the world is yours” desk lamp, a reproduction of a Rabbit Tanaka lamp created for the 30th anniversary of the movie. (Note: The lamp may only be available in U.S. stores due to currency issues.)
The phrase references a pivotal scene (check it out below) in the movie when Al Pacino’s character, Tony Montana, watches a blimp float by his balcony that reads “the world is yours.” Given Nas was the subject of Supreme’s fall 2017 photo t-shirt, the capsule is a nice loop back to Nas’s 1994 single of the same name, also an homage to Scarface.
These items drop on October 12, 2017 in U.S. and European stores and on October 14th in Japanese stores.
