Kendall Jenner has done what no other model has done since 2002, knock Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen off of her top model earning perch. Despite a poorly-received Pepsi campaign that turned into a p.r. nightmare for the 22-year old, Jenner was able to pull in $22 million through deals with Estée Lauder, La Perla and Adidas, as well as her appearances on her family’s reality shows plus her Kendall + Kylie clothing line.
The news comes via Forbes, which compiles the annual list based on income from cosmetics, fragrance and other contracts; estimates are sourced from interviews with numerous managers, agents and brand executives..
Newcomers to the top list include queen of clap backs Chrissy Teigen, who pulled the lion’s share of her money from deals with beverage brands like Vita Coco and Smirnoff. Pulling up at No. 9, Bella Hadid is also new to the list thanks to big paychecks from Dior makeup, Nike and Nars. With her sister, Gigi, also on the list at spot No. 5, this is the first time two sisters have been on the top ten list at the same time.
The top ten models on the list all have big social media followings boosted in part by their appearances in fashion magazine editorials and global brand ad campaigns, but in the case of newcomer Ashley Graham, she built her following on her own, an effort that lead to plus-sized checks with Addition Elle, Dressbarn and Swimsuits For All plus campaigns for Lane Bryant and H&M.
Sadly, the top ten list doesn’t include any black women though according to Forbes, Joan Smalls was a near miss, as was Taylor Hill, Candice Swanepoel and Lily Aldridge, who all banked just below the $5.5 million cut off. Check out the list below.
